English Language Learner (ELL) Instructor, Level 2


Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide Level 2 English language instruction for adult students at Casa de Amigos.  Duties will include, but may not be limited to, the specific duties listed below.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Sets up and maintains a classroom environment conducive to ELL learning.

  2. Provide or assist with testing determine students ELL placement.

  3. Determine specific needs of students and assists in the formulation of their goals.

  4. Assists students in progressing through ELL levels.

  5. Communicates and coordinates with program staff.

  6. Communicates and coordinates with outside ELL programs on behalf of students, when necessary.

  7. Establishes class curriculum.

  8. Submits monthly reports/client services in a timely manner.

  9. Attends job related training and works as a team member.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to work with students of different levels of education.

  • Relates and works well with people of all ages, ethnicity, and economic levels.

  • Able to build rapport with students.

  • Good language writing writing skills.

  • Ability to work with Casa de Amigos staff; a “team player”.

  • Flexibility to change and adjust programs according to needs of participants.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bilingual verbal and written skills preferred; but not required.

  • Attends job related training and works as a team member.

Contract - Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday/Thursday evening 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - May be divided into 2 positions.


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required.

  • Experience and/or training in fields related to ESL adult education.

  • Teaching experience preferred.

Youth Education Assistant

Part Time

Job Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

The purpose of this job is to provide support to and supervision of the Youth Education program.  The overall objective is to assist the Education Coordinator with coordinating and implementing programs and activities which meet the needs of youth education through homework help, tutoring in difficult subjects, promoting literacy skills, with a focus on self-esteem and character building.  Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, those described in the specific duties below.

  • Assist with coordinating and supervision of Youth Education, including but not limited to:

  • After School and Children’s Literacy Tutoring (Education Station)

  • Summer Youth Camp Activities

  • Computer Lab

  • Other educational activities, as scheduled

  • Special Youth focused events

  • Assist with screening and enrolling students as needed for all youth programs.

  • Develops individual educational “action plans” for each youth participant

  • Stays current with progress by monitoring grades, school attendance, discussion with students/parents, etc.

  • Offers support to and builds relationships with students and their parents through group activities, phone calls, educational guidance, parent activities and instruction. 

  • Maintains community contacts pertaining to youth education as needed.

  • Provides hospitality and meaningful experience for volunteers and Work Study Students; assures they receive necessary supplies, guidance, and instructions to carry out their responsibilities.

  • Maintains accurate and current program records, statistics, and reports; submits reports in a timely manner.

  • Knowledgeable of other programs and resources within Casa de Amigos.

  • Accompanies group, as scheduled, for group activities.

  • Attends job related training, and agency meetings; works as a team member; communicates and coordinates with appropriate staff.

  • Other tasks as assigned.
